Each year, Mary Parkhill visits the state of Maine to photograph the vivid nature, colors and coastline. The state boasts an incredible mix of serene forests, wildlife and soul quenching waves that crash onto the rocky shores. Beautiful, old lighthouses litter the coastline and are an iconic part of the state.
Mary’s goal is to photograph every lighthouse in Maine. Each year, she goes back to this great state and spends time traversing up and down the coast.
Maine Lighthouse Photography
A worldwide attraction, Maine has 65 lighthouses along the coastline. As an ongoing endeavor, Mary’s goal is to photograph all 65 lighthouses. Each lighthouse is different - some are built into the side of a cliff with long staircases winding up to them while others are standing alone on a pile of rocks.
Maine Landscape Photography
Acadia National Park is known around the world as one of the most scenic and beautiful parks in Maine. One of Mary Parkhill’s favorite times of the year to visit is during Autumn, when all of the leaves on the trees are changing. However, during this time of the year, unpredictable weather can happen quickly and the leaves can drop off of the trees with just one storm. Chasing Autumn through Maine has been one of Mary’s most memorable experiences to date.
